Who We Are
MavenLus is an independent product review publication founded in 2024. We combine hands-on testing with deep research to deliver reviews that help you make confident purchasing decisions. Every product we recommend has been personally tested by a member of our team — we never publish reviews based solely on spec sheets, press releases, or manufacturer claims.
We cover 19 product categories, from electronics and tech to gardening, pet supplies, and health & wellness. Our team of three specialist reviewers brings a combined 25+ years of product testing experience across consumer electronics, fitness equipment, home goods, and more.
Our Team
Maya Chen — Senior Electronics & Photography Editor
Former product engineer at a consumer audio company. Maya brings a technical eye to headphone, camera, and wearable reviews — she spent 8 years in hardware engineering before switching to editorial work. She has personally tested over 300 products for MavenLus.
Alex Reeves — Tech & Home Improvement Editor
Degree in electrical engineering. Alex has tested 200+ smart home devices and power tools, and believes that if a product can’t survive a real home environment, it has no business being recommended. He covers tech, DIY, gardening, and automotive categories.
Sarah Kim — Health, Wellness & Lifestyle Editor
Certified personal trainer with a background in nutrition coaching. Sarah tests fitness equipment and wellness products from a practitioner’s standpoint — how does it actually perform over weeks, not hours? She covers health, sports, food & drink, and baby product categories.
Our Review Process
Every review on MavenLus follows a rigorous process:
- Research & Selection — We identify the most relevant products in each category based on market trends, reader requests, and industry developments.
- Acquisition — We purchase products at retail price or receive review units. Regardless of how we obtain a product, our editorial process and scoring remain identical.
- Extended Testing — Every product is tested for a minimum of two weeks in real-world conditions. We don’t rely on lab benchmarks alone.
- Scoring — Products are scored on a 10-point scale across multiple criteria specific to their category. Our scoring rubric is published in our Editorial Guidelines.
- Publication & Updates — Reviews are published with full transparency about our testing methodology. We update reviews when manufacturers release significant firmware updates or when market conditions change.
How We Make Money
MavenLus is reader-supported. When you click a link on our site and make a purchase, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. These commissions help us buy products to test, maintain our testing lab, and keep our content free for everyone.
