Our Testing Methodology

Transparency isn’t optional — it’s the foundation of everything we publish.

The 5-Step Review Process

1

Purchase

We buy every product at full retail price from authorized retailers. No review units, no freebies, no manufacturer partnerships that could bias our testing. Our editorial budget is funded entirely by affiliate commissions from products we’ve already reviewed and recommended.

2

Unboxing & First Impressions

We document the out-of-box experience: packaging quality, included accessories, setup complexity, and initial build impressions. First impressions matter — they’re the experience most buyers will remember.

3

Extended Testing

Every product undergoes a minimum of 14 days of real-world use. For categories like electronics and appliances, our testing period is typically 30+ days. We integrate products into our daily routines — not lab conditions — because that’s how you’ll actually use them.

4

Comparative Analysis

We benchmark each product against 2–3 direct competitors in the same price range. Performance claims are verified against our own measurements. We note where manufacturer specs match reality — and where they don’t.

5

Scoring & Publication

Our 10-point scoring system is standardized across all categories. Scores are assigned by the reviewing editor and reviewed by a second team member before publication. We publish the full review with pros, cons, specifications, and a clear verdict.

Our Scoring System

ScoreRatingWhat It Means
9–10OutstandingBest in class. We’d buy it again without hesitation.
8–8.9ExcellentHighly recommended with minor caveats.
7–7.9GoodSolid choice with some notable compromises.
6–6.9AverageAcceptable but better options exist.
5–5.9Below AverageSignificant shortcomings outweigh strengths.
< 5Not RecommendedWe cannot recommend this product.

What We DON’T Do

Corrections & Updates

Products change. Firmware updates fix bugs, prices drop, newer models launch. When significant changes occur, we update our reviews and note the revision date. If our original score no longer reflects reality, we re-test and adjust. Every review shows a “Last Updated” date so you always know you’re reading current information.
