Beauty & Personal Care
Honest, dermatologist-vetted reviews of skincare, haircare, and beauty tools. We’re building this category with care — here’s what’s coming and where you can read in the meantime.
Coming Soon
Our Beauty editors are currently testing a slate of skincare devices, hair tools, and color cosmetics. Every product in this category will be tested for a minimum of four weeks across multiple skin types, hair textures, and routines before we publish. We don’t publish a beauty review based on a single tester or a single week of use.
Expect the first wave of reviews to cover at-home laser hair removal devices, LED masks, gua sha and microcurrent tools, professional flat irons, and clean-formulation moisturizers. Each review will include patch-test results, ingredient analysis with our consulting dermatologist, and side-by-side comparisons against the category leaders.
How We Test Beauty Products
Beauty is unusually personal. A moisturizer that works for one tester can sting another, and what makes a foundation look flawless on dry skin can sit poorly on oily. So our beauty methodology adds three things on top of our standard review framework:
- Diverse panel. Every product is tested by at least three reviewers across different Fitzpatrick skin types, hair textures, and age ranges.
- Ingredient review. We send formulas to a consulting dermatologist for a sanity check on actives, fragrance, and any flagged ingredients before we score them.
- Long-term tracking. Skincare and treatment devices need at least 28 days for honest skin-cycle results. We don’t shortcut this for “first impressions” pieces.
